Current Work

Ruth is currently exploring the impact that human activity has had on the environment, both in a positive way and also some of the more negative consequences we now see unfolding.  This follows a year long residency at FarmEd   https://www.farm-ed.co.uk

This is a continuation of work begun when Ruth worked alongside other local Artists, on the Glyme Lane Project:

“Glyme Lane will be affected by nearby house-building plans and there is the real possibility of a relief road cutting through this area.  The artists feel it’s important to acknowledge what this area, with is ancient track, longstanding allotments, organic farmland and refuge for nature, means to people in Chipping Norton and to record it at this moment in time.  The exhibition will include recordings by sound engineer and producer Nick Parker, of allotment holders talking about what having an allotment here means to them.”

“Shedding” and “Shed” explored the impact that human activity has on the environment, both in a positive way and some of the more negative consequences we are now seeing manifesting in the natural world.

“Coming here, to FarmEd, on a regular basis infuses me with hope. This is the way we need to direct our thinking, doing and being; living with nature, rather than on top of it.  We are nature and this place personifies that.”
